Since 1949 our family has owned Rainbow Ranch Inc, a public horseback riding stable. In 2014 we began a small therapeutic riding program which provided weekly equine therapy for the months of June, July and August for individuals with varying life challenges. In 2018 we decided to take our therapy program full-time.
We have organized a Michigan non-for-profit 501c3 corporation called Stony Creek Therapeutic Riding Center. We plan to build a new facility for therapeutic riding and hope to open in the fall of 2019 or early in 2020.
Once the center opens, in the short-term we will hire a full-time therapist and our program will serve 35-40 individuals per week. In the long-term we hope to add additional staff and work with upwards of 80 individuals per week.
